24 hours in the world’s best airport.

Narita in Japan is amazing, where you can buy crazy Kit Kat flavours. The Hong Kong airport theatre has a fantastic 4d theatre, shopping guaranteed at the same price as in the rest of Hong Kong (I checked it’s true), and my favourite fried chicken place.

Due to a bone headed booking error I had a 24 hour stopover in Singapore. I’ve never been so happy to make a mistake. The airport is amazing. It has two theatres which run 24/7 and the movies are all free. That’s right free! (Bring in your own snacks and drinks from the 7-11 right besides it.)

I’ve never seen an airport that is so superb as Changi in Singapore.
When I got sick of movies there were sleep recliners or gardens to wander through. The butterfly garden was gorgeous. So many butterflies, and no crowds.

As with all the attractions it runs 24/7. You don’t have to worry about the fact that your flight is at 6am. Unlike other airports that close down their shops at night, this airport is truly 24/7.
If that’s not enough, there are free tours of Singapore that are ofreed. If you have 5 hours or more between layovers you can take a 2.5 hour tour of Singapore with an English speaking tour guide on an air conditioned bus. And yes all free! I got to see the famous Merlion, Chinatown and little Turkey.

Speaking of free here is the list of free items I found in the airport.

  • Free craft cocktails
  • Free tote bag
  • $40 free spending money
  • Free Osim foot massage
  • Free wifi
  • Free lottery drawing
  • Free wood print stencil thing creation station
  • Sunflower garden

Changi airport in Singapore does airports right. If you have an option of a long layover in Singapore take it. I spent 24 hours here and loved it!
