80 Cents Worth of BBQ in the Philippines

What’s the best place to retire and eat cheap BBQ everyday? Cooked over coals, the road side food stands in Cebu make delicious BBQ. Like Thailand, the meat is usually chicken or pork and not beef. You can get skewers of meat, organ meats and sometimes chicken heads. The places I saw were a little different from the hot dog cart style I’ve seen elsewhere in Thailand . It seems like people in Cebu will open their main floor of a dwelling and turn it into a little stand restaurant. They open a few hours for lunch and dinner, then close back up. You’ll see little shops/homes selling everything from BBQ, to deep fried cinnamon bananas.

Dinner for me was 80 cents (3 pork skewers and a hanging rice). Hanging rice was interesting to find. They are rice that are stored in woven coconut leaves. You buy them, and cut them or break them apart when you want to eat them. Perfect for an eco friendly non styrofoam solution.
