The Batu caves are one of those sites that everybody tells you to go to see in Kuala Lumpur. One of the best things about traveling around looking for the best country to retire cheap is being able to see the sites. Taking the train there I was wondering what it would be like.
Filled with towering statues and intricacies it’s an impressive site when you get there.
All around is this statuary that makes you think of what people have accomplished in their expressions of religious glory.
I claimed the 272 stairs and got to the very top. It’s not a hard trek, but it is a lot of stairs.
Inside the top of the cave there are some cool scenes and impressive rock formations.
The best part is that is free to go see the Batu caves. I thought there would be another towering God statue. There are instead a few small vignettes and a smaller temple.
If you’re a woman going in, you’ll have to wear appropriate clothing. No short skirts, shorts or mini skirts. If you don’t have it you will have to rent it.
The coolest thing about the Batu caves though are actually the monkeys.
Lots and lots of wild monkeys just monkeying around. They’re super fun.
The Batu caves are cool, but the monkeys are totally the best part of it. I’ve never seen so many wild monkeys just running about.
Here’s another shot of Batu cave monkeys for you.
Seeing free attractions is definitely great for your budget when you’re looking for the best countries to retire cheap!
